Overview
A 5-day safari through Central Serengeti, Western Serengeti, and Tarangire National Park offers an unforgettable wildlife adventure across Tanzania’s top parks. In May and June, witness the awe-inspiring Great Wildebeest Migration as massive herds make dramatic crossings over the Grumeti River—a spectacle unique to this region of the Serengeti.
With our expert driver guides, every moment will be filled with thrilling discoveries. The Western Serengeti, renowned for offering the best views of the migration during these months, guarantees an unforgettable safari experience.
Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
We will depart from Arusha in the early hours of the day and drive to Tarangire National Park where colossal termite mounds and ancient baobab trees await us. This park is renowned for its immense elephant population, picturesque scenery, and diverse bird life. Tarangire has enticing wildlife that includes elephants, lions, giraffes, warthogs, ostriches, impalas, cheetahs, mongoose, buffaloes, and baboons.
When our game drive comes to an end, we will proceed to Lake Manyara Serena Hotel for dinner and overnight there where we will witness the glorious sunset.
Day 2 - Karatu to Western Serengeti
You can either enjoy a relaxed breakfast and depart for the day with a packed lunch, or leave early in the morning for an exciting game drive adventure.
Later return to accommodation for breakfast and depart to Western Serengeti with a packed lunch.
You will explore the central portion of the Serengeti National Park today and move towards the western part of the park. During May/June wildebeest herds are spread around the western corridor of Serengeti (consisting of Grumeti, and Kirariwa regions), The en-route game drive towards the Grumeti region will also offer mild action from the resident game. The western region offers a variety of resident game such as zebras, hippos, gazelles, elands, topi, buffaloes, leopards, lions, and black and white colobus monkeys.
A picnic lunch will be done during the day-long drive itself. Based on the time of your arrival you will be able to spend a few hours by the Grumeti river. The eventful day comes to an end with a heavy dinner and a good night’s rest in your accommodation at Lahia Tented Lodge.
Day 3 - Western Serengeti
Early morning after breakfast at your accommodation, we will proceed our game drive on the western Serengeti following the great migration. You will spend this full day on the western Serengeti for game viewing and if you’re lucky enough you can spot the crossing at the Grumeti River as well as crocodiles hunting their prey during the crossing. Watching the wildebeest surging through the torrential flow, some drowning, and a few falling prey to lurking crocodiles is an unforgettable sight. During the full-day game drive, there will be a stop for a picnic lunch. The day comes to an end with a tasty dinner and a good rest in your accommodation at Lahia Tented Lodge
Optional Activity,
On this day, rise early for an unforgettable hot air balloon experience, followed by breakfast.
Day 4 - Western Serengeti to Central Serengeti
This entire day is dedicated to exploring the Western Serengeti Migration through game drives. In the afternoon proceed to Central Serengeti,the habitat of an abundance of wildlife such as impala, buffalo, crocodile, and hippo, is more well-known for its great migrating herds of zebra, antelope, and wildebeest. The animals’ trek is determined by the rainfall and varies from year to year. In December the animals move from the northern region dominated by woodlands and hills, to the grassy plains of the south. Stay overnight at Serengeti Serena Hotel on a full-board basis.
Day 5 - Serengeti to Arusha
Indulge in a leisurely breakfast before embarking on a morning game drive en route to Arusha or Seronera airstrip for your flight back to Arusha, as your adventure concludes, cherish the memories of the extraordinary landscapes, diverse wildlife!
Alternatively, continue to your booked hotel for an overnight stay at Arusha.
